I love Calmoseptine Ointment and put it on the skin around my stoma all the time, so that was good thinking on your part.
Have you told your surgeon or Ostomy Nurse about this skin irritation? I got one when I first had my ileostomy, and my doctor called in an antifungal powder to the pharmacy called Nystatin. It worked well and cleared it up for me.
Eakin Seals are great. They are moldable disks that you put around your stoma under your wafer. The heat from your body makes them mold around the stoma and through the wafer, so nothing can get onto your skin. They really work better than Stomahesive paste.
I've never had a hernia, so I don't know anything about them, but good luck with getting the skin irritation cleared up!
