stoma size

 I am Jan and now have an illestomy April 09..due to taking 22" out of my colon and rettached. After going home from surgery to find out the colon came apart where attached back.
I had to have emergency surgery to clean up the infections that came with pertintis.  Just got off antibotics last week...I will be having a reversal in the spring...however, my Stoma size has varied from 22mm and now around 32mm. It bulges out in the bag now and can been seen when clothed. I am concerned that I have done something wrong and need advise on what to do. I read that 1" high is good.... The stoma makes spitting sounds and has no consistence with waste. Can someone help me out with advise or support in this matter. I go into pantic mode when comes time to change the bag....

well its not uncommon for it to change size. Im not sure what you mean about it showing through your clothes though.

As for the spitting sounds thats just gas at least most likely and the consistency of output depends on what you eat. So i dont know how to answer that, i mean mine changes all the time.

I have had a stoma for 2 years, and it changes sizes from time to time. The sounds that the illeostomy make should be considered a good sign, in my opinion. You know it is working. Whenever the sounds stop and nothing is being excreted into the bag is when you should get concerned. Having a take down in the spring is something to look forward to. :)
