So far I've only done an appliance change in the mornings and have had no problems with active flow. Right now I'm sore from tiny leakage earlier this week and need to change again. Problem is I just had dinner so the next few hours could be interesting.
I'm thinking... is there something any of you use to "divert" flow from the stoma during an active change? I'm thinking a tube similar to a toilet paper tube but maybe a bit smaller in diameter and washable. A short piece of plumbing PVC might do but it's a bit on the thick side, I think? Those resizable plastic tube covers that go over a shower curtain rod might work but they'd need to be worked on to get rid of any sharp edges.
I just want something to cover the stoma for a minute or two while my skin and then the Cavilon dries, something that touches as little peristomal skin as possible. A "spout extender" of sorts. If only 7-11 made wider Slurpee straws it'd be perfect!
Does this even make sense? Any ideas for a washable/reusable tube? For tonight I'll try a TP tube.
