Traveling via airplane with ostomy supplies?

Is there anything special I need to know?  I also have several prescription bottles but I simply put those in a plastic baggie.  Do I need to remove the prescription bottles and not let them go through x-ray?  What about ostomy supplies?  I packed most of it, and an irrigation kit, into my suitcase.  I do plan on bringing 1-2 days worth in my carry-on.  What about the paste and powder...will I need to do anything besides put it into a plastic baggie and have it inspected?

As long as it is just 100ml per item you can put in the plastic bags - one per person.

i dont see why you should have to remove them as long as they can be seen. i put my pills in my  handbag and know one cared. plus i forgot about stuff in my handbag too and got through.

its just pastes and liquids - pills u can put in handbag.

you basically have no restrictions for medications and ostomy supplies...just bring twice what you would normally need and pack half in your carryon and half in your checked luggage.

I've travelled many times without incident and my carryon has never been opened for the supplies:)

When my daughter flew to Ontario this summer we had to pack her paste, drops, and powder in a baggie and tell them before it went through the scanner that it was medical supplies. Same with her meds had to be put in a baggie. The only thing that couldn't be packed in her carry on were the scissors she uses for cutting the flange. We even got a letter from her dr for her to carry but they still removed and inspected and tested her stuff for illegal drugs with a cloth type thingy. It was really embarrassing for her. I think maybe security was having a boring day that day? I know she had no problems flying back.

The airline websites outline the guidelines for such questions. Hope you have a great trip.

Sami's mom - How embarassing for them to do that! Oh well, I don't care if they make me show them the bag. I'm not too worried.. I just want to make sure I can keep it in my carryon.

I took twice as much, plus my irrigation kit and I've put it in my suitcase. I'll be bringing about 2-3 days worth in my carryon as precaution. I just wondered if the powder and/or paste would throw up red flags.
