Crohn's after ileostomy

Hi! I was wondering if anyone could give me an idea of what symptoms a person would have if a recurrence of crohn's would happen with an ileostomy?

My GI Doctor told me I would have blood in my bag and white ulcers on my stoma, but I was wondering if there would be any internal symptoms like cramping, bloating, gas or sharp pains in a specific area?

Because Crohn's can occur anywhere from the mouth to the other end, any type of pain or cramping would be a pretty good indicator that something is up (a flare up that is). Blood in the bag is good indicator as well... your doctor is correct. Sharp pains above the belly button is something my GI doc has said could also be an indicator of Crohn';s in the small intestine. It's such a tough disease! I wonder if having the ileostomy that I just had will stop my symptoms altogether, or if it is just buying me some more time. I guess I'll find out! I've had my ileostomy since December of last year with no problems at all, but I just always keep crohn's in the back of my mind! I know I shouldn't, but it's just paranoia! lol Thanks for all the great info, let's just stay positive that we will be crohn's free in our future...it's such a terrible disease!

It is a terrible disease, and I see a hypno-therapist to try and ease my anxiety about the Crohn's coming back in some way. It was always only in my colon, so I am hoping it doesn't decide to creep back up on me in some way. I hate that you have to go through the same stuff that I have, but glad to meet another person who can understand the mental paranoia that goes along with this disease! I always give advice when I can. There was a shortage of advice for me over the last 10 years, and no one should have to go through that! Good luck to you!!
