Appointment at Cleveland Clinic in Florida

I have an appointment with Dr. Wexner a week from today, on Monday, to discuss surgical removal of my ileostomy tube.  I am so ready to schedule surgery for a real ileostomy and bag, but am very frightened of surgery.   I had a wonderful surgeon in May and June that tried to give me an ileostomy, but my insides were a mess.  I was in the hospital for 52 days and I think that everything that could've gone wrong, did. 

 

I had to have a picc line put in, I had 3 blood transfusions, and a nasogastric tube.  I was really sick and pray that I don't have to go thru this many trials, again.  I am ready for my surgeries to be over and to get my life back.

Well - Dr. Wexner is one of the best in this field and the Cleveland Clinic has great resources and facilities.

PLease keep us informed as to how goes with Dr. Wexner.

Thanks, Lizzie.  We both have had a difficult time of it and I hope that our futures can look brighter soon.  I admire you so much for what you've had to work through, too.

Jackie, did you have Dr. Wexner as your surgeon?  He did my colectomy and he and his team of doctors treated me wonderfully.  I spoke with his surgical scheduler and he's just now scheduling surgeries for the beginning of January.  I'm hoping that I won't have too long of a wait.

Actually, Dr. Weiss was my surgeon. He is more soft spoken but also top notch. I hope you get your surgery scheduled asap.

Lori,

I've been thinking about you and wondering when you were going back to CC.  I wish you the best and pray you'll be able to have a "normal" ileostomy soon.  You've been through so much.  At least you know you're in good hands!  I've heard nothing but good things about Dr. Wexler, as well as Dr. Weiss.  Please keep us posted and try not to be too nervous.  Have a nice Thanksgiving, too!

Janie, I see Dr. Wexner at Cleveland Clinic, FL on Monday afternoon at 2pm. Unbelievably, my insurance was very helpful and my authorization was approved hassle free. I worry about you, too, and hope that you also can enjoy a happy Thanksgiving holiday.

I have sutures around my tubing on the outside and inside of my abdomen so that my tube doesn't move or fall out. Last night they came out on the outside for the 4th time since surgery and so I will have to be sutured up again, today. I am exhausted from everything that continues to happen and am anxious to see Dr. Wexner and be "fixed".
