Take Down Tomorrow - Questions

My son is having his takedown surgery tomorrow. I'm wondering
1) How long will he be in the hospital
2) Will they have him using the bathroom immediately
3) Will he be in lots of pain
4) Any words of wisdom or advice

Hi, my takedown is scheduled for January so I don't personally know what to expect.  I have been told that my hospital stay will be 3-5 days.  I am pretty sure they try to get you to poop immediately.  Also, pain is too be expected but I heard less than surgery #1.  Best of luck to you and your son.  I will be thinking of you guys...

The doc told me to expect to be in the hospital for 3 days to make sure everything is working but I was there for 5 days. The surgery didn't take too long, maybe a couple hours. They had me cathed up when I woke up but didn't need to use the restroom for a while after eating. He should have too much pain because of pain management.

My advice: start slowly. Don't eat everything you want right away. Be ready for loud noises. and us you pain meds as needed.

Hospital stay is 3-5 days.
My surgery was 1 hour.
No pain
Food is given once bowel sounds are heard.
Take diaper rash ointments!
