I had a proctocolectomy with ileostomy on October 13 2009 for Crohns, have been doing very well since surgery but now for about 5 days I have been having sharp stabbing pains in my rectum.  I have searched the internet and this forum not finding much that relates. Anyone have any experience with this??? Thanks in advance

I had some strange pains for about 9 months after surgery...you did just have surgery and your body can take up to 1 year to heal. If you are worried, though, call your doc and see what they say!

Other than the pain, how are you doing?

It's possible that you might have an infection. That happened to me at about 6 weeks post-op. You should make an appointment to see your surgeon about it.

i have that same problem. infact 2 nights ago i had those pains....and i tell you it is almost as bad as having my 5 children......... it hurts alot.........and it is a strange place to have pain and embarrassing. but my surgeron said it is spasums in there and it will get better but i has been a year now since my last surgery. and i still have them from time to time. .maybe once a month now................ NOT fun.............  but my doctor did say if it keeps up i should let them know about it.. he said there is things they can do to help it.. (think more surgery) but i am not sure. there is a lady in my church who has it really bad .she cant get the pain to stop and really should get into a dr. so if you have it real often i would see your doctor..

% months and I still have pains occasionally. They have lessened over time, mostly and then there's a wham. Heard it's normal so hope you don't have any problems. Maybe get checked out, always better safe than sorry.
