Kristen, I don't know if this is your problem, but this is what happens with me. Whenever I have surgery either on my rectum or around my rectum I am in terrible pain. My urogyn told me it is rectal spasms. After my sacralcolopopexy, which is where the doctor pulled the vagina and rectum up, attached it to mesh, and then anchored it to my tailbone......I was in horrific pain for 4 weeks with the rectal pain. I would have such pain that I would have to walk around and around after a bm. It hurt so bad that I couldn't even carry on a conversation with anybody. Is this how you are? Because he gave me muscle relaxers and this helped a little bit! But what helped the most was time unfortunately.
If the pain doesn't get any better, then call your doctor and tell him how bad it hurts! I never heard of anybody on this board having rectal pain after their colectomies.....but, I never heard of anybody complaining of rectal pain after their sacralcolopopexy either. My rectum just must be super sensitive for some reason.
