Hi Shannon,
First, I want to welcome you to the most friendly & knowledgable site ever!!!! The people on here are the very best people you will ever grow to know and love!
I didn't see if you have pelvic floor dysfunction or not; if not, your chances of this surgery being successful are greatly increased! My GI does a completely different sitz marker test than any other dr; I swallowed 50 markers and was x-rayed every day or every other day for almost a month. After that time I still had markers at the beginning of my small intestine as well as throughout my small intestine and large intestine, this was while I still took my 2 doses of amitiza, 4 doses of miralax & 4 doses of lactulose daily. It was determined that I needed most of my large intestine removed, keeping just 2 inches of it. I had my surgery 7/08 and it has been extremely successful! So it's really hard to say if surgery will or will not help, everyone is different and everyone has their own circumstances.
I do know that my life has been full of continuing challenges but I am forever grateful to God for leading me to my GI and surgeon who has changed one part of my life like I never even thought possible; and I will always encourage others to seek help to be able to feel as good as I do!
I wish you the very best and pray that you find relief!
