Feeling Cold All The Time!

dehydration would be my guess, with the weakness and all.
or maybe your blood pressure is off some.

I think Summer and OHIO had good suggestions for you---I just wanted to also mention that after my colectomy, I was feeling cold (particularly my hands and feet) for months afterward.

I finally (after some blood work) discovered that my iron level (specifically ferritin, which is your stored iron) was very low, and docs said this can cause someone to feel cold. I had to take mega, prescription iron supplements for 4 months before my levels got back to normal range. Apparently it takes a while to build iron stores back up.

I no longer have an ostomy but I experience multiple bm's each day and some days the dumping effect. I feel just wrung out and depleted when I have days like this. I was always a freeze cat before my cancer/colon resection but even more so now.

One thing that does help me is to walk on the treadmill (not on a bad day). When I feel good, just getting my circulation going again helps. Or just floor exercises (Pilates).

But like you I'm often cold year round. In the summer if we dine out in a restaurant and the A/C is cranked low in that facility, I can barely get thru my meal, my teeth are chattering something awful. Even if it's 100+ outside I can't wait to get outside in the sunshine and even sit in a hot car, windows down though. To thaw out.

This is one of the quirks I have now post-surgery. I wear lightweight thermals from November to March, wear cotton sweaters in the summer, often sit outside on the deck just to get warm even on 80 degree days.

Try the physical exercise, I do see an improvement when I'm more active, I am less cold. My colon surgeon said to choose one of the 4 best forms of exercise - walking, jogging/running, bicycling, or swimming laps (the best one he said since it doesn't put stress on joints). I chose brisk, fast walking.

Hey all, if you're trying to find the perfect winter pair of sox, look no further than Smartwool brand. My youngest daughter in college was always complaining about wet sox and cold feet (she goes away to school at a campus that is over 200 years old, cobble stone streets, etc.). Someone told us about Smartwool and they solved her problem. I even tried a few pairs. Trouble is they are pricey but this time of year they are on sale (Bass Pro Shops is one store that carries them).

I also have purchased light weight thermal pants and long sleeved T's from Target. They are just wonderful to wear under a pair of corduroy pants and a sweater in the winter.

i shoudl have mentioned this, but when you get dehydrated sometimes you cant catch back up on your own, and its good to go to the dr or hospital to get fluids. Esp if you cant slow down your output

I think our moderate climate took a break this winter. It was very nice here in Mocksville, NC today but cold weather is apparently returning this week. Of course when it is in the 60's and 70's everyone else is running around in t-shirts, and I am still in sweatshirts. People think I'm crazy....nope just COLD!
