A year ago, my 80-year-old dad was in perfect health. He got dehydrated, lost his entire colon, and had an ileostomy.
Now, 11 months later, they have reconnected him. He has lost all muscle tone and is pitifully weak. He has 9 inches of rectum connected to his small intestine. He is 3 weeks out of surgery and has constant diarrhea. I've read all these wonderful, helpful comments, but am still confused!?! (ex. cannot have sugar, but should not have artificial sweeteners)
What's the "bottom line"?? (no joke intended!) I'll do anything I can to help him regain his strength, dignity, and lifestyle.
