I guess I know everyone is different. However, after my colostomy/removal of rectum, what are the odds of crohn's attacking other parts of my GI system. Yep, still have questions.

There are never any guarantees with Crohn's...it could come back- but it will never torture your rectum again!

I never had Crohn's in the small intestine, and my gastroenterologist said that chances are really good that it will never show up there. That was the best news ever! So far so good, it's been 4 years, and I'm still disease-free.

Mine has been in my small intestine but had been quiet for close to ten years before my proctocolectomy...my doc's statistics show that 10 years is the mark where my chances are good I won't experience any issues (knock on wood). I'll cross that bridge if I have to! I just couldn't live with the rectal disease/misery and haven't regretted my decision.

I had Crohns in the small intestine.
My surgeon told me that if it was Ulcerative colitis I'd be 'cured'. But with Crohns there is a 20% chance of it coming back somewhere else.
Clearly I wish I had Ulcerative Colitis...

Thanks for the reply. That is the only reason I am on hold for my sx.

Wow, there's an 80% chance that the disease will not return? I like those odds!!
