Partial Blockage?

Since my colectomy 2 years ago, I have had a complete blockage caused by an adhesion that required surgical remediation and a second food related blockage earlier this year. Recently, I am noticing that I am often having trouble digesting many foods that I have never had any issues with including well cooked vegies. My output slows, turns mostly liquid and is accompanied by a noticeable stomach ache, back ache and sometimes vomiting. With walking, heating pads and time it tends to pass in 12 to 36 hours.

Do any of you experience the same? Could I have a small blockage or "kink" in my system. What should I do?

Mike~sorry to hear that is happening! What was the reason for your colectomy? Could you have a stricture since foods that used to be ok are now an issue? Have you given your doc a call to let them know?

I've only had a few SBO's (knock on wood) and when I notice the symptoms you described I drink strong coffee or a Ginger Ale and they usually clear up quickly. i hope you can find relief soon!!

I had adult onset UC, exhausted all RX options and elected (was it an election?) to have an illeostomy.

Get a CT enterography. It will show if there are any narrowings in your small intestine. Good luck. Rosemary
