Reversal Healing Time

I am 22 and have a colostomy. I am in university and really hate my ostomy more than I love it. It has helped but it has really been bad for my self esteem. I am looking at graduating at the end of the year and hope to move to London next fall. I really want to get it reversed and was thinking of asking my doctor if I could do it over winter break. I only have about a month off and was wondering if you feel that is long enough and I could return to classes at the beginning of January. What is your opinion, I really need someones advice other than my doctors.

I haven't had a reversal but from what I have read about others on here everyones progress is different, so I would imagine no one would really be able to say for sure how soon you will be feeling well enough to resume your studies. I wish you the best and hope it all works out for you. Sorry I can't be of more help to you, keep us posted on what you decide to do. take care

Dreamer06,

I have my reversal on Thursday Oct 07, 2010 and back to work on Tuesday Oct 25, 2010. I had diarrhea for couple of days and never had it again. Since my reversal, i have no major complications. First week, I have at least 10-20 small BM but I can hold it so i don't have to go often. Last week, My BM slowly reduces down to 5-7 times and this week, it has reduces down to 2-3 times. However, everyone progress is different but average patient start feeling better between 4-6 weeks.
