So i kept having skin problems around my stoma and tryed a few things but i remembered when i went for my first surgery i met a guy named Matt. He told me about
alot of products that would be help-ful.
He talked about
a type of fake skin to protect skin if like other products didnt help. Its called DuoDERM. I picked up two box's of it, ten in a box so a total of 20. But since i tryed it and it works GREAT! I highly recommend it if theres a skin problem around the stoma. I know most ostomie places carry something like it if not the same type i got.
Theres different sizes but i would get extra thin. I believe they also come in different sizes but i think the stander-ed is 4x4. I sure where everyone orders might be able to get samples.
Any other great recommendations?

Thanks David. I've had itching and redness around my stoma for quite awhile now. I am using Nystop and Reliamed Barrier Wipes but they just aren't doing the trick for some reason.

How do you use it? Under the wafer? Will the wafer stick to it?

Hi, yes I used Duoderm extra thin all the time when I had a retracted ileo the the nurse who suggested it said it is used to treat burns patients, as the duoderm helps heal the skin. If my skin got really sore and shiny I would cut a hole in the middle of one whole sheet of duo derm the same size as the stoma hole stick this in place( it is self adhesive) then would put a paste ring on top and then the bag with a couple of sure seals around flange, if the bag was to leak it would then go on the duo derm not on my skin. I found it to work brilliantly! As like David M I would highly recommend it. Bev x

Crohnielass -Question ?????????
Using duoderm under your wafer, would that help if you are allergic to the tape part of the flange or could it make the problem worse. Any help would really help.
Thanks Sue

Hi Sue, It shouldn't make it worse as no part of the flange will touch your skin, if you get the 10x10 size and your flange goes over the side then cut some pieces off another square and add round the edges till your flange is only on the duo derm. the order number is S161 and is also known as Hydrocolloid dressing. Hope thats helped Bev x
