I got my supplies today yay. Was going though everything and found the sure seals. I was thinking they are the size of eakin seals but they are pretty big. Then again they are supposed to fit around the 2.25 inch flange opening.

Maybe I could drop to a smaller flange now that my stoma is smaller?

The outside of the flange is usually the same size...just the center hole gets smaller (unless you have a really BIG stoma then the wafer is BIG).

If your flange/wafer doesn't fit under the Sure Seal, you can trim the edges of the tape part, so it fits. The key is to make sure that the Sure Seal goes out farther to keep everything dry:)

Can someone please describe the application process for the Sure Seal (i.e. where does it go, what does it adhere to, etc.

So I tried a sure seal today...should have read the directions cause I thought there would be a big white sticker on my stomach.
As I was putting it on it seemed a bit stiff so I was going to cut it were my stomach has a crease it in when I noticed that the white thing isn't supposed to stay on you are supposed to peel it off and and leave the clear sticker on.

Then I felt stupid lol.

LOL dont feel stupid, those things are so hard to get on! I love them, and wear them all the time, but its sooo hard for me to get them on!

OK i know this post is a bit older, but I didn't want to start a brand new thread for it...

I can't figure out what Sure seals are. I went to the website but there's no real explanation of what they are for. Can someone explain them to me?

they are this plastic stuff, kind of like saran wrap, that goes over the bandaid part of the wafer, and keeps water from getting in. they are the best thing in the world! It keeps you from having a wet wafer after a shower, and it makes my wear time longer.
They are kind of hard to put on, i think anyway, but really worth it.

It's a breathable/waterproof membrane to protect your wafer...

go to www.alpglobal.com to see a step by step on how they work. They'll even send you samples for your specific wafer.

Ok, I am confused about the sure seals.  Is it to my understanding from the aplglobal.com site that the sure seals are only to be used on a 2 piece?  I don't see how you could put it on a 1 piece.

i dont know why you couldnt put it on a one piece, but i dont really know much about them

I cut the seal in half and then apply the two pieces so they make a complete seal around the opening of the wafer. If I left it whole, the water can get in since the opening is a bit larger than the wafer opening. They work wonderfully.

Hmmm interesting. I think I may have to order some samples as well.

How would you benefit from wearing the Sure Seals on a day to day basis? The website states the rings are designed to be worn 4-7 days. What other reasons besides keeping the wafer dry in the shower would you wear the Sure Seal?

I'm and active runner and the Sure Seal allows me to get a longer (or my normal) wear time with my wafer. The times I haven't worn one I've changed my appliance the next day:(

They also protect your clothes IF you have a leak...they are just amazing!

Just used my first sure seal last night.  So far so good.  I will keep you posted.  These things remind me of the material they put over and IV in the hospital.  My daughter used to use them over her site when she wore an insulin pump.  But they were much smaller.

OK I believe that the sure seal will work out fine for me. My question is, I order from a place called Byram. They do not carry sure seals. If I go thru some place else to get sure seals is this going to be a problem with my insurance? I really don't want to have two different places to order from. But if you get everything I am already getting plus the sure seals from the same place couldn't I just switch places I order from. I just don't want my insurance company going crazy on me.

they really arent that expensive if you have to order them elsewhere, i was getting my stuff through bestbuyostomy when our insurace was all messed up recently.

Well, Maybe I spoke to soon. I have noticed today that I have little tiny white spots under my sure seal. Could this be a sign that I am allergic to it. They don't itch, but they look like they may have pus in them. Shoot I was hopeful for this.
