Hello Friends,
Charlie is home and doing well! We came home Sunday, May 6. Yesterday he woke up with a severe allergic reaction to something; we don't know what. His lips were very swollen, hives, itching, the whole bit. Went to Dr. and got a steroid injection and prescription antihistamine. Got better as the day went on, normal today. Cannot trace anything new, except what looked like a couple of spider bites, which he'd never been allergic to before. We wonder if part of it was due to weaning off of prednisone, which he's been on for about 10 weeks now.
Then, in Charlie's last week (6th!) in the hospital, my wife's father suddenly fell ill and passed on within a week. So, we ended up on a Friday at the visitation, Saturday at the funeral, and Sunday bringing Charlie home from the hospital. We are all hoping for some "boring" time at home.
Aside from all that, Dr. was surprised how good Charlie looks after everything he's gone through. Ostomy and other functions are normal. He spend an hour at the park running around with his friends today. He's about 3/4 speed and gets tired more quickly than he'd like, but functioning so well. Gained about 4 lbs in the last week.
Thank you all again, SO much.
