hi all,

although i'm doing great with the 2 peice coloplast sensura's wafer and it holds for a week, i have a friend who likes to do diving a lot, so i offered him sure seals. but since we don't have them in israel, i asked my sis to sent me some to pass them to him to see if it helps with his diving activity.

anyway, i just changed my wafer and wanted to also try one. they are really cool, look like sticky nylon for sandwiches :) but my question is, when applying it on the wafer, it covers the things on the sides that are used for putting on the belt. with hollister's appliance those things are placed on the bag, but with coloplast's they are placed on the wafer. i don't use the belt anyway, but another friend of mine who wants to try it does and she won't be able to put the belt on the wafer this way, so how to manage with this...??? hope i explained the situation right.

With the sure seal I do not think you will  need the belt any way...

How do You like the sure seal? I wouldn't  change without one now! over a year and not one leak. I keep my wafer for a week.

Can't you just cut the sure seal a bit to let those tabs show?

thanks everyone. so far looks good, but i'll be able to see if it makes any difference only after it's been on for few days. i usually get a whole week with my appliance anyway, even w/o the sure seals, but was curious to see how they work.

next time i change my wafer, i'll try to cut the sure seal in a way the tabs can stay out, thanks.

using sure seals, just started a few weeks ago.  i am really afraid i am allergic to them,  not sure yet. but i am happy with them so far, got 9 days from last appliance, not sure if the sure seal had any contributing factor or not.

9 days!!!! wow that's looooong! have you ever managed to get nine days before you tried the sure seals? i did get nine days once (w/o sure seals) - coloplast sensura really works great for me even w/o the help of sure seals. maybe with sure seals i'll be able to get like 10 days????? WOW... it would have been soooo cool if it were ok to keep the wafer for 10 days. but then again, if we had that, we'd start dreaming of havin it for a whole 2 weeks period and etc.. lol it never ends.

anyway, i'm rambling... a whole week is also great!

That was a first for me for the 9 days.  Right now I am going to aim for 7, I think I would like to just make it one week and just plan on changing everything out on Saturday.  If I know I can get 9 then I should not have any problem with 7.  I use the 2 piece Sur-Fit Natura Durahesive with convex-it.  My stoma is retracted. I like the fact that it doesn't turtleneck up around my stoma like some of the other wafers I have used. Don't get me wrong, it swells up some but nothing like some of them.  Some of them swelled up so much I couldn't even see my stoma. I don't know what kept the input from getting under the wafer.

are you using addapt rings or eakin seals? if so, then that's what probably prevents the stools from going under the wafer. so glad sure seals help you with wear time. maybe in 50 yrs from now, there will be an appliance that can hold for a whole month he he. or maybe there won't be ppl with ostomies any more.
