bleeding and mucus after ileostomy surgery?

i had my ileostomy surgery in december 2010 and

was in hospital for about 2 weeks i then became ill with a burst bowel and had

more surgery to correct it i left hospital and had bleeding and mucus from the

anus and was prescribed predfoam enema which i should be using twice daily but

don,t really but when i apply it i rush toilet were it come out with blood and

mucus in it is this right i don,t  see any improvement is there any thing i cando  to

help it i was also Tachycardia and was underweight still am also 17 and would

not like the bag for life is the ileostomy reversal likely to happen now ?

In a similar situation to you - was prescribed Pentasa (Mesalazine) suppositories to stop the bleeding and reduce mucous.

They've so far managed to reduce the amount of blood and mucous significantly but I've only been on them for 2 weeks so we'll see how it goes in the long term.

I also had sinus tachycardia but this slowly got better as I got better and gained back weight and fitness.

Pred enemas can irritate the bowels but also may take time to get used to. Remember it may take a while for the drugs to work and settle down.

I've just come out of hospital and had a very frustrating time with mucous/water constantly leaking from my back passage - especially overnight. I've been told its just how it is...and that I kind of just have to put up with it until it settles down. Not sure if this is exactly the same as your situation but from my little experience I've just been told its leftover from the surgery and will settle down over time.

I had leakage issues of blood/mucus about a month after my total colectomy. I was prescribed Cipro/Flagyl and within 24 hours had stopped having all leakage problems. They considered it to be pouchitis, which was a little strange because I was still diverted. I've since been on/off cipro/flagyl for the last year and they are about to remove my pouch, since it has not healed at all. As much as I'm devastated to have to live with a permanent ileo, I can't WAIT to be done with pain and inflammation for a while.
However, in your case, I wonder if a temporary course of Cipro/Flagyl could help bring down the inflammation and relieve you of your discharge/discomfort. It's worth a shot!
