Ileostomy since August 2010 and have that same moto...if it aint broke don't fix it. 1st week home from hospital....nurse gave me appliances that never worked, changed every few hours. She suggested the moldable convetec, ran to the medical/ostomy store, knew it would take a week until shipment came. I got between 8-11 days with the moldable wafer and the stomahesive paste!!! Then, slowly I started to gain my weight back and by Christmas, the dips of my incision became more predominant. Getting 4/5 days weartime. Still good but not good enough like beforehand. Also, going to gym, combination of more physical excercise & weight gain decreased wear time dramatically. Had Eakin seals, tried for the first time in January. Was very apprehensive. Still 5 days. Eakin isn't working as I'd hoped. Called Convetec for the first time and the ostomy nurse gave me samples of the slims and suggested the ostomy belt. Next changing, tried the slims along with the belt and got 10 days. Then, back to the regular seals with the belt and again same duration 10 days. I should play around with or without the belt with the slims, but I'm so happy to get this wear time....yesterday 12 days changed electively. So, I can toggle between both Eakins effectively. I have redness around stoma with the Eakins that I didn't have with the paste, but it isn't inflamed or itchy. I think that my weartime success is the belt, which is cumbersome to wear, but well worth it.
