Think I'm dehydrated/got a blockage - can anyone help?

Hi. I feel so terrible. Went out yesterday evening and had 3 large glasses of wine. More than a little tipsy but other than that felt fine. Changed my bag for a fresh, larger one for the night but woke up this am with what I thought was a raging hangover.

After being sick many, many times, I've realised that there has been absoloutely NO output from my stoma. Everything I drink I bring back and I feel really shocking.

What should I do????

Does your stoma hurt? You may want to call your surgeon. If you can't keep anything down, you have extra risk of dehydration becuase of the ileo. they may want to just give you an IV with fluids to hydrate you again, regardless of the possible obstruction. During the IV stuff, they could possibly assess you for a blockage.

I second Stephanie on getting an IV -- that can make you feel so much better if dehydration is the main issue..... and definitely get the possible blockage checked out. Hope you feel better soon.

Thank you everybody - you're all a fabulous source of information!

Went straight to the hospital and they were brilliant. Took x-rays of my chest and tummy and got me started on an IV straight away. No sooner had the doctor palpated my tummy than there was a small sign of some output but unfortunately not enough to be sure all was well.

They moved me to the assessment unit and started on sips of water. Things finally started to move at around 8pm so they gave me a cup of tea and a sandwich and hey presto! We have output!

That was one hell of a hangover :)
