School Again. hmm.

Well school was due to start today, got pushed back until tomorrow, so tomorrow will be the first day of the last year of high school. Hmm. homebound paid off. time to get back into the "game" lol. surprisingly not really expecting much to go wrong, i have a change of clothes packed incase i have a leakage at school, a thing of baby wipes "just cause they help sooo much when going alot" umm avoiding school lunches first two weeks just because they usually give out all the left overs thats been frozen over summer.

i had some ice cream today and its going through me like butter, hope its outta my system by tomorrow.
Im driving this year to avoid problems on the bus, when your on the bus and get to school they wont let you off until 7:20, and ive had to go to the restroom before and well for my "safty" i wasnt allowed to get off the bus. so by driving i dont have to risk it, plus i get home an hour faster. "im last stop on the bus" so that'll save me im sure haha.

12th grade already.. time does fly quick. :D

I think it will do you a world of good to get out and back to school and as you said, "get back into the game".

We will be thinking of you and hoping the day goes well. I hope that your trusted friend, maybe, goes to school with you??...would be nice.

Anyway, have a great day and enjoy being a senior! (?) (in Ontario we only go to grade 12)

PS...ice cream or any dairy product also goes RIGHT THROUGH Dillon...he eats them but knows what to expect

yeah my friend does go to the same school with me, that'll be good to start talking to him again, havent seen him most of the summer.
here it only goes up to grade 12th.
and yup, im'a senior.

Hi David-M,

My son is 14 yrs old and started High school as a freshman this year.   He is currently flaring badly and we anticipate a possible trip back to the hospital this weekend.   He has been suffering with UC for year, diagnosed in February 2011 and none of the meds have helped. 

He has made the decision to have the J pouch surgery.   I know it would do him a world of good to hear about the surgery from someone his age. He is scared and his biggest concern right now is stressing about how he will ever manage to keep up in school. 

We anticipate that he will be going to school through the Hospital Homebound program through the school system. It would be great if you could share your surgery experience and what to expect about the surgery, post op, and recoup period, as it might ease his mind a bit...but only if you care to.

Im getting sugery next month im glad to hear that the stress isnt that bad gives me hope

Best of luck to all the students who have this disease and have to cope so early in life. Wishing you all the best. You are strong people and sound like you are making good plans for all to go as smoothly as possible.

I was a teacher for 17 years until I got gut injured and the only thing that could be done was an ileostomy. That's the short form of my story. Took 13 months to get fixed up the best that could be done. I was out of commission for so long before all the damages could be assessed and more conservative measures tried that by the time I got the bag, I was too worn down to return to work. My teaching certifications had all expired and then some lesser health things crept in on me.

BUT from a teachers point of view I applaud you and wish you a wonderful school year. I wish I was going "back to school".
