Do I have Cuffitis?

Hi. I have just had my jpouch formed, literally 14 days ago. I'm feeling really good, eating well, loop stoma fine, site of surgery healing really well. The only thing is that I have terrible, swelling type pain just inside my rectum (not in the canal, but just inside where my rectum used to be). It can only be described at this stage like "tooth ache" in my ass (funny I know but not so funny either.. I'm trying to keep my sense of humor! :)

I have still to have my take down so presently I have some output, mucus, which is normal. When I waken up in the morning the pain feels bearable, but then once I pass the pain starts and then that's it for the day. It's the type of pain that forces me to wear a frown all day and I can get grumpy because it is just never ending. Also, I notice that if I sit down, or if I put pressure on either of my buttocks, using my hand, I can feel the pressure inside me.

Could this be Cuffitis? I know that there is part of my rectum left in order to attach the jpouch. If somebody could say they had similar and that while it's a pain in the ass (pun intended) it will eventually go away I would suffer on (suffering - what's new eh!). It's just at present I'm suffering, pretty badly, with no end in site.

Lastly.. This has just came into my head - It actually feels like when I had UC, that constant swollen, sore pain in your anus/rectum.

Thank you so much Rachel's mum for your help. Last night I just couldn't take the pain anymore. I called the hospital and they told me to get straight in. I'm much more comfortable on though I'm on very strong pain relief It's better than the suffering over the last few days.

I have a scan tomorrow. What they think is that I have a lot of swelling and possible build up of fluid around the jpouch or inside it. That would make sense to me as I feel so much pressure down there, even if i press either of my buttocks or sit down. I was trying everything to get releaf, I even put ice on my bum to help. It gave some relief but it was short lived. The pain I had was so constant I really thought I was going to go insane. It was there all the time. Morning to night, sleep or not. I just couldn't escape. I would try to pass some mucus discharge to maybe help the pressure but it would only make it worse. Burning, uncomfortable, sore pain right inside where the pouch is attached to my anal canal. I roughed it out for 5 days at home before I called the hospital last night. It was terrible. Anyway, feel much better now, albeit on pain killers.

Your poor daughter! I hope she is okay now? I honestly wouldn't wish this type of pain on my worst enemy. Did her's pass in the end? I had really prepared myself for this second operation. I had my stoma for a year and in that year I trained loads. I ran, swam, wind surfed, ate well etc. But nothing was as expected. I lost loads of blood in the op, needed two transfusions, then I got an infection in the pouch and now this. I've lost almost a stone and a half. So I can really relate to your daughter.

I just want to say thank you again. I really appreciate your input. Most people I've talked to said the second was tough but none as bad as mine. Knowing that your poor daughter was the same as me helps me feel a bit more normal. Tell her an Irish dude living in London sends his best.
