Antibiotics with no colon?

I had my colon removed 2 1/2 years ago because of colon inertia. I've still have to take miralax twice a day to go, and that works ok. I have been fighting some crud for about 3 weeks now, (now I have bronchitis) and the Dr. put me on a stronger antibiotic today. I've never had any problem with diarrhea, but because this antibiotic is considered the "granddaddy" of antibiotics, just wondering if I need to take a probiotic, and if so, how much? The antibiotic is avalox.

hey Janie :) i would say taking probiotic never hurts. i would take the usual recommended dose. i have a real bad UTI now. my urnie is totally bloody, low fever, bad low abd cramps. this is the 4th time since my ileo surgery. i'm on strong antibiotics too for 10 days :/ my dr said this time we're gonna kill it forever :) he said after i finish with this antibiotics he'll give me a preventive treatment so it won't come back again. i hope it works :) feel better soon hon ♥♥♥

Sorry to hear you've been sick. UTI's are terrible. I've had several in the last few years and they can really make you feel lousy. I hope your antibiotic works and you feel better soon!

Thanks for the advice....I'm taking a couple pills (probiotic) a day just in case. Do antibiotics bother you?

Has Judy been around lately? I don't come here as often as I used to, but wonder how she's doing. Poor thing has had such a difficult time. ...also, what about Lizzie? I need to check around and see if anyone has heard from her. I just sent her a text a little while ago...hope she's better.

thanks hon. antibiotics doesn't seem to bother me so far and i've had to take a lot lately. havn't heard from Judy or Lizzie for quit some time and hope they are doing ok. i see Lizzie on FB and it seems she's ok. last time i saw Judy on here she was in a really bad shape and in icu for a long time and drs didn't think she was going to make it. i wish i knew how she is now. she's such a sweet lady. hope you feel better soon too ♥♥
