Anyone use these? I just got a pack but have yet to apply. Any tips? Thanks!

I just want to say I love them. It does take some time to put them on your bag and if your output is liquid it may come out of the hole. In the middle of the night i can release air with out being fully awake. i tend to produce a lot of ass no matter what i eat or don't eat. I know that if it were not for them I would be having blowouts right and left. I do 1 box of bags at a time hope this helps. Oh I have a loop ileostomy and my output varies from thick to thin.

I use these too. Just follow the instructions and they stick great. I usually grab a bottle of 91% alcohol, some pieces of gauze, something hard-sided to work on and put vents on a bunch of pouches while I am watching TV. Then they are ready to go.

They make releasing gas so easy and most days I can make it through the night without emptying because I can sit up in bed and just carefully release the gas out of the EZ vent and lay back down to sleep. Usually my pouch is more full of air at night than output. I have been using them over a year and I only had one accidentally open when my belt hooked it. I don't think I had fully closed the vent because it has never happened again. Anyway, in that case I smelled the gas before any output got out so there was no harm done. When my output has been really liquidy a couple of times some has bubbled out of the vent when I opened it and tried to release gas, but that was just because I had let my pouch get too full, hadn't noticed that my output was liquied and wasn't being careful.

Thanks for the input! I have a covered bag...do I still need the alcohol? How do you make the little holes?

You will have to trim a little circle out of the fabric that covers your pouch. Then rub the exposed plastic under the hole in the fabric with alcohol until the plastic's sheen is gone. The disc must adhere to the plastic on the pouch, not the fabric. Once the disc is on, leave it for 24 hours to set (though I have gone 12 hours with this step). The next day, take a pair of small scissors and poke a hole in the pouch plastic under the opening in the disk. It is hard to describe, but the little brochure that comes with the vents explains it pretty well.

I used them, but there's something about the location of my stoma or how I wear my pants or what pouch I use etc, but I kept knocking it open..... had an unpleasant accident at a party, and then I stopped them. Just wanted to mention..... be sure to close them very tight, although I did that.

I ruined a pouch the first time, not cutting a hole in the cover, so glad someone mentioned it. I also found that the rub the alcohol until its not shiny step was confusing.... sometimes mine still looked kind of shiny.... but I could feel the difference in texture w/my fingers, and it's not that much rubbing.

Thanks for all your input. I am worried about my pants...blueglass, I wear some below natural waist jeans where the top of the pouch sticks out a bit (I usually fold it over), so that may interfer with the vents performance. I'm going to have to figure this one out. Thanks again!

I used to use the vents but now use pouches with a vent. Excellent results with the EZ. At first I would put the vent on AFTER I put a clean pouch on! Never a problem. Later I learned to make the hole from the inside..

After you put a vent on a new pouch you need to make the opening from the INSIDE of the pouch. Use a small pair of pointy scissors and cut a hole for the vent opening. It's kinda hard the first time but you will have better venting than with just a poked hole. It takes some practice to get it done. With a one piece pouch you will find that where you locate the EZ will make a difference. Try it and wou will see what I mean.

Thank you Dan. I have yet to get around to adhering any vents to any pouches as yet because I kept having leaks (which I hope I have solved) so I didn't have the chance/time to orchestrate the application.

Perhaps the pouch/wafer is not the problem. What pouch do you use? What do you when you change the wafer?
