Well, I had hoped to see the doc and my WOCN but the WOCN had something come up this morning and was not at the clinic. I did utilize her newest "helper" though and we got things put together until I go back on Friday.
Yes, I have to go back on Friday because what I thought was pain from the burn around my stoma where output had gotten in contact with the skin was actually an abcess draining :( Yeah, the abcess that they tried to drain 3 weeks ago when I was in the hospital - as in cut into it and pushed and nothing came out - decided to start draining yesterday. ***? So, she dosed me up with lidocaine, made a larger incision on the abcess and packed it with iodoform. I get to go back on Friday so she can take everything down again and do it all over. She has asked that my husband come to the appointment with me b/c she would like him to take everything down on Sunday and re-dress/pack it all. I know he has no problem doing it and told her so, she wants to talk to him about it for professional practice she said - one provider to another. I thought that was pretty cool.
So, anyway - my WOCN helper made a crust around my stoma using stoma powder and cavilon and then we just stuck the pouch on, right on top of the packed abcess and all. It effing hurts - the numbing stuff is wearing off. I am hella glad I have those giant bottles of lortab :)
OH-I did the marshmallow "trick" that I read about here and it worked! Last week Stella spouted EVERYWHERE (avocado) and I had a mess on my shirt :( This week, not a thing - yay!!
