Yikes, i didn't see the post until just now. I'll keep it short and precise. ;)
i had the takedown two weeks ago and woke up feeling pretty good. not much pain but i still made sure to take the pain medicine if they were offering. but i was up and walking within a few hours. surgeon said that since its been almost 3 years since i've used my rectal muscles it'll be a little longer for them to work properly than most j pouchers and he was right. i had a few accidents the first week and it got better but i still have some close calls. it'll take some time but i feel really good.
i took 6 rolls of the softest toilet paper to the hospital and i'm glad i did. i used them all in the 3 days i was there. cedars sinai gave me baby wipes while i was there which were very helpful.
i have a work from home job so it makes the recovery much better and i have my future wife who helps take care of me too. so far so good but its probably going to be a while before i'm ready to confidently venture outdoors on a semi regular basis. but thats fine, i'm a patient person.
P.S. it felt so good to fart for the first time in almost 3 years. now i have to be careful not to fart unless i want to clean up a mess. :)
