Reversal Question?

It's March now and I'm at the halfway point with my ostomy. I'm so close to saying goodbye!

My surgeon told me I still have something called the ileocecal valve, therefore I shouldn't worry too much about my reversal. I think he means I won't be going to the bathroom as many times as other reversal patients, but can someone please clarify this?

If you've had it reversed, do you have this valve? What was your reversal aftermath like? Constant trips to the bathroom or what?

I did have a section of small intestine taken out but my ileostomy is to keep pressure off my anal fistula, not for intestinal purposes.

My surgeon made my permanent ileostomy 4 inches up from my ileocecal valve. That is where the colon connects to the small intestine. I wonder if other permanent ileostomy people still have this valve intact. Maybe he was thinking if a miracle was ever found for scar tissue that I could be reconnected. The guy had the best heart in the world saving me the best that could be done due to my intestinal injury. Rosemary

Well they initially just tried draining and packing it but after 7 surgeries that didn't go well, as it ripped open when I pooped, so my surgeon (best guy in the world) decided to put in a seton and gave me an ileostomy while it healed. However there was a section that was very inflamed and swollen so he took it out during the ostomy procedure. :)
