I'm in week 4 and have the same urgencies but little gas. I'm trying to be patient and have seriously "reconfigured" my diet during this recovery process to ease it up a bit.
I would take a look at what you're eating that may be causing gas. So far i have stuck to rice, potatoes, water, some pasta, chicken, bananas and a little fish and it has really helped compared to what others have described while going through this.
For breakfast i have a bowl of multigrain cereal with diced bananas and maybe a couple of peach fruit cups. then for lunch i'll have a small dish of rice or pasta with chicken sometimes. I won't eat after 4-5pm so i can sleep through the night. It's hard not to eat at night but when it keeps me from having to get up and go to the bathroom multiple times at night, t becomes much easier. ;)
P.S. For me I have stayed away from sugar altogether and fruit juice as well. It causes me diarrhea and issues with "holding it". Sticking to the foods i listed above have helped me tremendously.
