I can't speak for everyone, but it's been a year and a half since my reversal and I'm doing great. It did take my body a while to adjust to everything so for about
the first six weeks I was pretty bloated and I would get urges that felt like I needed to go but they would only lasts a few seconds and then pass - not like UC. Eventually, everything settled down and started working like it was suppose to. Obviously, it will never be exactly like it was with a healthy colon. I probably go about
5-8 times a day but it's very quick - in and out. It's really no big deal at all. My one suggestion would be to buy an bidet seat attachment (Google it). Wiping that many times a day can be irritating. Mine is a Coco and I love it. Can't imagine my life without it because it makes such a huge difference.
I can eat whatever I want. The only thing I stay away from is grapes because I do need to chew my food up well and grapes have such a tough skin to me it's not worth it but I'm sure others eat them. Don't read the horror stories because they probably won't happen to you. Remember, most j-pouchers are out living their lives and not on a board which attracts a lot of people who are experiencing problems. Good luck!
