Yes witch hazel is the main ingredient in the tucks...maybe you could make your own by applying it to some squares of an absorbent paper towel and initially it might offer some extended relief if you can leave it in there.
We had a very sweet guy mentor us when my husband agreed to the surgery and we were anticipating and hoping for the j-pouch surgery. He stressed when my husband gets the pouch.....after every bowel movement to apply (in his case) Desitin to maintain that barrier to try to keep ahead and eliminate the "butt burn" irritation due to the acidic output due to not having a colon. Same situation kind of how you need to keep the output off the skin around the stoma due to its acidity causing problems...same thing with the jpouch.
Hubby could not get the jpouch...but in anticipation I tried (very funny actually) to get some Desitin into a mini size flexible squeezable travel bottle.. was not gonna happen...lol. Wanted him to have something discreet to keep in a shorts/jeans pocket. They really should make one ounce tubes of that or whatever product you use for bathroom trips outside the home. Gals have purses so can carry a larger tube if necessary...not as easy for the guys.
