It looks like a continued thearpy with vsl3 is not affordable.
Does anyone have any experience with a similar, less expensive probiotic?
Thanks

Our surgeon said that, in research papers, VSL3 appears to be effective. However, in her practice, which is very large, she has never seen it help. Her thought is that it cannot hurt but that it is a waste of money.

I've only had my j-pouch for a few months, so I'm far from a professional, but all of my GIs, surgeons and ostomy nurses have said that simply eating a yogurt every day or two would be effective in warding off pouchitis. So far so good for me.

Have you tried a good quality yogurt? Not the stuff with all th artificial junk in it though.

Good idea run4pancakes. I eat Greek yogurt instead of regular for the same reason.

I eat organic yoghurt and also drink actimel. But the propiotic cocktails are a much higher dose of bacteria. Is there an alternative to vsl3 that would be less expensive?
