My husband said probably this would not apply because this is an ostomy forum but I know I have read some posts about
reversals.
The surgeon said the bowel has to "wake up" and Bill has to have some sort bowel movement before he is discharged from the hospital. But even with laproscopy we both know there will be a recovery period. How long before you felt well enough to be out and about? Bill is hoping to go back to being a crossing guard the last week of August...Basically about 6 weeks after surgery. Is that realistic? Also did you have any special diet you had to follow or could you go back to eating whatever you wanted? Bill's ileostomy was from rectal cancer...not Crohn's disease...doctor did say there was a small amount of diverticulitis and he still has hemorroids as well. We plan to ask the doctor if he can do something about the hemorroids at the same time as the reversal but if it would delay his recovery, he will forego the hemorroid issue.
We are both so hopeful that our lives will get back to normal particularly since our daughter is coming here to be married in November.
Any advice or information you can give us is, as always, greatly appreciated. This group has been more helpful than all of the professionals put together!
Thank you!
