REVISED STOMA WORKED FINE TODAY!! PRAY IT KEEPS WORKING! ROSEMARY

Posted on my other strand. My new very oddly shaped stoma worked great today. I was like THANK GOD! This has been the first day I really ate a lot. French toast, ravioli, ice cream and cookies. BUT WOW was it great to eat. Keep those prayers coming. It is bad enough to have to have a bag (that by rights in my case I should not have to have due to the botched GYN surgery) but to have the stoma stenose, the symptoms be ignored for 3 months by my then current surgeon, then having to find help myself, I deserve a good break. I am sooooooo praying this lasts forever would be good. Rosemary

YAY!

I leave for vacation for a week tomorrow.....when I get back I want to hear everything is working and continues to do so!!!

That's so good to hear, Rosemary. I was getting worried with your other thread... hopefully that was just some random bump in the road that you have gotten past and will not have to deal with anymore!

The shape of this stoma is still might funky but it felt good to eat. No I won't over tax it that is for sure. :-) RJ

Rosemary I am so happy for you!

When I read your post, I thought of all your trials and tribulations of the last months and what came into my head was "All I want for Christmas is a bag FULL of poo!"

I was thinking of "Funky Stoma" as a name for a band (or the funky stomas....)

Nothing wrong with a little eccentricity as long as it works!

Ok here is the band called The Funky Stoma's and they are going to play for us the ever popular hit title song "All I want for Christmas is a Bag Full of Poo."

Praying this keeps working. Oh PLEEEASE!

I checked with the doc who made the stoma and he thought the splayed out part was granulomas from the pic I sent. I was like NO that is part of the stoma. He said either way as long as it works! auuuugh! he is not a colorectal surgeon but he saved my life. I JUST HOPE the stoma keeps working with that funky shape. Gotta send some pics ahead to the colorectal surgeon closer to home that I am lined up to see. I should have thought of him first, but I was in such a state. I understood the doc I had would do the laproscopic adhesion lysis and his father who is a colorectal specialist would do the stoma. BUT no the son who is general lap surgeon did the whole thing. He is so nice, very willing to communicate, but I do not know how many stoma's he has made????

Anyway, getting another pair of eyes on this will be a good idea and pray it keep working. All I want forever is a bag full of poo.....what tune can we put that to? RJ

So far so good. I did have another leak though due to the odd shape of the stoma, so am seeing a few stoma nurses. BUT, most important thing so far it is WORKING YEAH!!!!

Still some odd pain to right of navel, but so far working OK. The stoma nurse said via email she had seen this odd stoma shape before but I cannot wait til she sees it in person. At first this a.m. when I changed the appliance it looked a bit retracted. I was like O GOD, but I guess it is not so far anyway. Would not be able to pouch this thing with a convexity as with part of the stoma flat to my skin, the convexity would detach the skin from the stoma not a happy thing. Pray for me that it stays NOT retracted and keepin' on working. Rj
