How quick did your stoma shrink?

generally your stoma will shrink somewhat for about the first 2 months after surgery. I'm on my fourth one and it has always been the case. Keep re-measuring for your wafer until your stoma stops shrinking.

Mine went from almost a 2 inch at first, down to a 1 inch now. I was so miserable at first, it leaked, it shrunk, I cried, it leaked more, shrunk more, I cried more!! It seems I remember it happened quickly, like in maybe a month or six weeks after my surgery? I always measured it with the paper things that came in each box of bags. I had a WOCN that was ok, but literally everything I learned was from here and through trial and error. I finally went one day, about 3 weeks maybe, after my surgery to the home health store, in tears yet again, and the nice man suggested a convex wafer. I had never heard of that and thought I wasn't sure about that, but... It changed my life. I am now a perfect 1 inch, and love the precut convex wafers! This was all a HUGE learning curve for me, but I have finally gotten it all figured out. I enjoy both 1 and 2 piece bagging systems.
