Passing mucus the old way, 3-4 times per day. Normal?

Yes. Normal.
It's okay.

I started out passing mucus once a week or so, so when it jumped up to several times a day, I was scared. Found out that is perfectly normal and no one knew why it was so infrequent previously other than I wasn't moving much.

Yes normal. I sometimes pass mucous everytime I go for a pee, but then other times can go for days without passing any at all. Icky, but normal :-)

Does it slow down post takedown?

very normal. What is happening now isn't related to what will happen after takedown.

Thanks. I was thinking it would be very annoying to be going to the bathroom 3-4 for mucus and another 4-6 times to empty stool post takedown.

Yep, just shows your remaining bowel is doing it's job and producing mucous to lubricate things even though nothing is passing through it. Completely normal.

i too have this every other day or so and it is not fun for me... its like my body keeps telling me to push when theres nothing there and the pressure hurts! i am only 2 weeks postop tho so maybe the pressure will get better. but yea surgeon said it was normal

Sometimes I pass mucous and blood 3-4 times a day. Some days, none at all. I still have my rectum, which has inflammation. It's nothing compared to UC though!

It's all totally normal. My surgeon never told me to expect passing mucus and/or blood at times and the first time it happened I freaked out and called their office right away. Doctors really need to tell their patients to expect theses things.

I freaked also, especially when I started to see blood. I still have some UC in my rectum and little bit of colon left after my ilestomy. My surgeon gave me canada and i do them three to twice a week. He said the rectum had a job to do and now that no stool is passing throw it continues to pass mucus. For me I still pass blood too because I still have s some mild UC in that area. I believe if you keep your ileostomy permanently then they remove your rectum and sewn it up.

Why would they leave a bit of your colon? Were you UC or Chrons? Mostly everyone keeps about 2In of their rectum and it usually stays inflamed but its usually negligible to the patient.

Brian, the reason why he kept my rectum and 3 feet of colon is in case I want to get a J pouch, that's what he told me. I have time to decide. But as I said, I was in an emergency situation, my colon was getting larger and wouldn't calm down after no food or water and IV steriods and other medications for 7 days, so they had to take it. And besides I spent the last 3 years in severe flares and I knew the ileostomy was just a matter of time. I will say I am not sick anymore and no more medications except the canasas.

I experienced my first blockage, OMG i thought I was going to not make it, but I did, it took a long time to unblock and I was ready to go to the ER. i am still on soft foods for a few more days.
