As you guys know im now three weeks post op almost exactly from my colectomy. The past few days i have been in the worst pain from my surgery yet. Its around my belly button incision and my back as well. Pain meds help some but it hurts to breathe in deep and even to talk! Anyone else experience that kind of pain at three weeks? It is brutal in the morning. Takes me about 5 minutes to work my way outta bed and i shuffle around for about ten minutes till the pain somewhat subsides. I figured pain would get better with time not worse! Ct scans and xrays were normal so no hernias or abcesses suspected and blood was normal. Its really aggravating and debilitating!

This does not sound normal. To have gone from almost zero pain 3 weeks ago, to severe pain now, doesn't sound right. I'd continue to hound the surgeon for an explanation.

So sorry you are going through this.... but something is not right...you definitely need medical intervention....there's something causing this as this is not normal healing processing going on.

they can't always see abscesses on CT scans. You might need an MRI. It doesn't sound right .. the increasing level of pain. I would definitely get back to the surgeon.

Go to see the docs NP thursday and im gonna question them to death and see. I mean all i havent had done is an mri. I just dont see how it could be normal but then again nothing has come up on anything. Ready for thurs. until then im just not gonna worry. I mean what else can i do lol

remember taking pain meds could mask a fever...don't let it go. If you are feeling lousy and have a fever keep calling your doc. Glad you'll be going in on Thursday. Keep us posted on the outcome.

I had a stoma very needed stoma revision 3 months ago. when stoma shrank and assumed odd shape, stoma function was not longer as good as originally when the new stoma was new. Post op pain subsided nicely. NOW It is horrid in morning, right around the navel, around the stoma, and out into my right side. Takes me about 4 hours to feel better. I have to lie down a lot is it so bad. Let me know what you find out. Feels like my side is going to split open, pulling, tugging, searing pain. Like yours it is worse in the a.m.

My stoma works so good tho? That is similar pain as i am having tho. I believe mine is getting slightly better today but atill gonna bring it all up to surgeon! Thank you for all of your experiences. hope to hear more!!!

Hope you feel better soon, and don't hesitate to go in if you need to. Complications can come on fast. Take your temp a few times a day.

A CBC - blood test - could tell them if you have a lot of white cells that could indicate infection, abcess. I agree with taking temp too! I had an abcess a few days after my ostomy surgery, needed a second operation to remove some small bowel.

I think you should get it checked out. One never knows. If they don't have any good reasons they can find it may be what I had. Nerves that didn't like lllying on a hard metal table for 6-8 hours and are waking up and now complaining. Your discription was the way I felt and it took two months or more to feel better. My back hurt so much I thought I would die!

I moved lots and rested lots and it finally got better. Hope they figure it out for you and life gets better soon..
