Last Wednesday I had an outstandingly good job interview as editor for a medical journal. Monday evening I wrote the three interviewers to thank them and express my enthusiasm for the job, etc. One of them wrote back immediately and said he would be in touch again probably the middle of the week. That would be either the invitation to a second interview (they have to get their candidates down from 5 to 2), or no invitation at all. So today is Friday and I have heard nothing, which could mean that the other two were invited yesterday and I won't get the rejection until after they make a final decision. I keep telling myself that anything could have come up and that the one guy has to travel all the way from Bavaria to Berlin for these interviews and because the other two are doctors it must be difficult to find appointments when all three of them can sit together with a candidate for 1-2 hours.
Cursing to myself. There's nothing I could have done differently in the first interview. I really want this job. Maybe it will turnout alright. Maybe I'm already out of the running. This is the waiting part I really hate.
