Hi all,
Hope your all hanging in there. It's been a while since I've written but just didn't find the time while caring for Mom. So sorry about that.
Mom is post op since 8/28/12 when she had her ileostomy reversed and intestines re connected. After a tough couple of weeks in the hospital, 10 days of which she was in isolation because of infections she's been home for nearly a month now and she is literally like a water faucet. All day every 15 to 20 minutes she goes, no warning yet (except 1 time) and she is just drained. Looks so and is so weak and wan. She's lost a lot of weight, a little that she needed to get rid of but she's still declining up to 5 lbs a week.
She's on an IV for 12 hours out of 24 of just saline to keep her hydrated. Also she is taking psyllium, lomotil, Imodium and a new powder she just got today after each movement, Dr.s ordered her to take the lomotil after every loose stool. They'd be gone in a few days?
From what I've been reading the food thing can be an issue but not everyone has the same food problems so that leaves me wondering how we can tell, when whatever she eats is gone in 15/20 mins?
Any help would be appreciated. An approx. eta on how long this stage lasts would be great, if there is one. Her dr.s tell her she is doing just fine and give it time. Easy for them to say when she just wants to get on with her life and put this all behind her. (lol)
Thank you for reading this and leaving a reply if you do. I look forward to hearing from you all.
