Rosemary didn't have uc,her ileo is th result of a botched surgery on another ppart of her body. I think that's what happened, but regardless hers wasn't done in a planned situation with a surgeon specializing in that. Which makes a big difference. Most people who have problems had emergency surgery, or poor placement.
There can be other problems, as with any surgery. You can go get your wisdom teeth out and end up with horrible problems. Or you can suffer with them.
I had to have a surgery in march, after 5 years, foradhesions that formed. Was it fun? No. Did the previous 5 years of health make it worth it? Yes.
Here's what you have to do, you have to think. Am I miserable now? Am I in pain now? Do I hate my life now? If you answer yes to those things, then why not take a chance on surgery? Most people who have surgery are happy and having a great life! But even if you hate it, you were already miserable. But the majority of people who have planned surgery and get to pick their surgeon and their stoma placement are very happy! Ok I will try to answer questions now, after I rambled, lol.
1 and 2. Those aren't good solutions for uc, like others said, it wll just come back.
3. The surgery hurts and it hurts pretty bad, but that is temporary and you get drugs for it
I don't know if you have had kids but I thought of it like the pain of child birth. It hurts like a ^&(*% but only for a little while and you get something great at the end, a new life! Uc pain never goes away and you get nothing for it
4. That's a personal thing. I chose a bag, I was 29. My son was 2, and I had already missed enough, I didn't want anymore surgeries than necessary. When I told my gi I wanted a bag, he said at least look at the jpouch I said nope, I never want to use thebathroom again, and I want this out! I told the surgeon the same thing, and he laughed and said he was amazed how sure and calm and to the point I was about
it. He still tells patients who are in doubt about
me,lol. But, an ileo is permanent you can't go toa jpouch. You can go from a jpouch to abag. So if you have any doubts at all about
living with a bag, go for the jpouch. I personally love this bag!
5. I don't know about
that.
6. All I can tell you is I wish I had done it sooner and not filled my body with all those dangerous meds just hoping and wasting my life.
Good luck!
