stiches or staples on rectum

12 weeks post ileostomy and proctolomy/rectal removal doing well off drugs and getting my life back.

Just curious if your doctors stapled your anals/rectum or stiched them? Reason is I was stapled and I have sorta of a little extra flap due to the stapes. I was hoping in times as I healed it would go away but not. I am thinking in time to have it removed. I know this is getting sorta picky but I sure don't like underwear ridin my arse.

Unless I am wrong....I think hubby's was internal stitches.  It healed really well and very smoothly which surprised me.  The 2 areas where the drains were while in the hospital took awhile to totally heal.  He had no drainage issues but they seemed to take a bit longer to clear up.

I saw my GI doc today he said the surgion would fix it for me if I was unsatisfied after my six month check up. I'm far, far from anything going on down on my bottom untiil I am fully healed. I was curiousl how others were done. thanks for your input

I had stitches down below, but staples for the abdominal wound.
Hurt like he!! getting some of the stitches out.

I was stiched on the butt and I don't remember having them taken out, they must have been the kind that go away on their own. I had staples on my stomach and having themb removed was the most tramautic part of the whole thing!

My sister had the staples and the Dr removed every other one before she was discharged to help take the pressure off. The rest were removed in his office afterwards. Since her "emergency unexpected" surgery was 2 weeks before my husband's "planned" surgery we automatically thought the same thing for him. His stitches were internal and some kind of surgical glue and his incision was 10 1/2" long. What a surprise that he didn't have staples on such a large incision. That healed absolutely amazingly with no issues. As I said up above the rear area also healed so well. Guess he was very lucky and the surgeon did a great job.

I just did a personal holiday card on the computer to send to the GI DR and Staff and the CR Surgeon and staff.....coming up on a 2 year anniversary for hubby. Wanted to thank them all once again and let them know his progress. I also imposed a small photo on the 1/2 size card so they could place the face with the name since he is fortunate not having had to go back to see them for any reason. Thought I would mention this in case anyone else feels the same way and might like to send a note or card at some point.

Brannah sorry for you pain, however having to sit on staples for 2 wks was no picnic.

     I have stitches on my stomach.  My surgeon said he did them from the inside.  I have no idea how, but they are barely visible now.  My anus is not sewn closed but I know he removed my rectum.  I suppose he stitched that too.  I never really asked.
