I had the colostomy reversed laparoscopically a couple of weeks ago. Along with it I had a hysterectomy for the large calcified fibroid. Uterus was the size of a child's football.
Everything was fine except for the horrible burning pain from abdominal wall nerves. No pain med even touched that.
Suddenly a couple of days ago I started with constant urinary incontinence. My sphincter muscles seem to be working, but I'm leaking every time I move even slightly and all night. I haven't been lifting. But I have been walking a lot inside the house, with 8 house guests and 16 for Thanksgiving dinner.
I see the general surgeon tomorrow. When I called the gyne surgeons' office, the nurses thought this was urgent and I might need to go to ER. I can't imagine what that would accomplish. I see one of the surgeons there in 2 days. I gave my PCP a urine sample, but that won't be cultured for a few days yet. He's got me on antibiotics.
I understand that incontinence can be a result of this surgery, but can it come on suddenly like this?
