feeling bloated

I had my surgery (entire colon removed) on Nov. 8th so I now have a stoma. I just got out of the hospital yesterday.

I've been concerned because I notice that after every meal I feel bloated and the gloating is more around the chest area or a little below that. It seems that it calms down if I lay down for a while.

It's not like I've been eating huge meals either. Is there something wrong with me?

Hi Penny.. did you have laproscopic surgery? when they do the surgery they fill your abdo cavity with gas and it makes you feel horribly bloated and have pain under your ribs for weeks. It will eventually go, but is really quite painful. Burping post surgery/ileo is normal too and just your guts getting used to working in a different way.

Thanks for the input! I definitely hope that's what it's from. I mentioned it to the surgeon but he didn't really have much to say about it but told me to just keep walking cause it could be the start of an ileus (?) or when the organs stick together, is it?

And I just realized that it may also be my asthma that I didn't have for a loong while.
