Stoma working again !feeling so much better

Well it's early days but after my last hospital stay that included tpn , ct scans and a gastrograffin X-ray finally made it home on Xmas eve , wasn't able to eat just the usual soup and protein drinks but this week my abdominal pain finally eased off and I was craving a hamburger so decided what the heck and ate one I was dumbfounded when a couple of hours my stoma started pumping it out and has been functioning like the old one ever since.
Ism finally able to eat what I want again but am taking it slow in introducing foods back in to my system as I don't want to over load it
What a relief this is best Xmas present ever , my poor old hubby is just ecstatic as he has suffered as much as me the last four and a half months .
I still have to see the surgeon this week and my GI dr but I'm feeling really good just like I used to before surgeries , my only wish now is that Sarah and rosemary could have the same turnaround that my stoma has

Congrats as well...happy to see things are now working the way it should...yes I too wish the other gals had the same results too. Hoping this new year will bring some new improved changes somehow for them.

Sarah I had the ct in hospital results said blockage at stoma it took long time for the oral contrast to appear in pouch must have emptied over two days , I had the gastrograffin liquid orally and the was having output almost an hour or so later bag after bag I still wasn't able to eat solids though it was still getting stuck so stayed on soup diet and protein drinks .
This week my abdominal pain eased off and I was noticing my output was almost like it used to be prior to surgeries so decided to start on mash and sausage with skin off and few hrs later out it come it's amazing the turnaround I still can't believe it .

I'm thinking maybe the swelling and inflamation is finally settling down maybe the scleroderma I have suffered from a long time went in to overdrive ? Along with two surgeries in a short time .
Maybe the blockage was just inflamed tissue ?
I wasn't able to walk far or do anything but last few days I have felt like I used to before surgery last August , my electrolytes are still all over the place and B12 is very low but I'm feeling so relieved I don't care much , having blood tests this week and see GI and surgeon later in the week maybe they can shed some light on why the turnaround .
So happy you could manage some Xmas dinner Sarah just wish you and rosemary could have the same outcome , but my fingers are crossed guess we never know one day to the next .

How did you do this????? Sarah, you are able to eat so much. I still have the drain tube and am on liquids, have to even dilute down high fat protein drinks and milk bunges up. VERY malnourished. FINALLY got a doc to offer TPN As inpatient then be sent home with port put who knows where and be on TPN at home. Did not get answer to question of how long this doc believes is wait time between surgeries. Other one said 6 months and to USE the gut what I could.

THis Nov. Stoma emergency redo is so recessed on one side that I have very serious skin breakdown. I need help fast. Need to know whether I should even go to GI tomorrow 40 miles away, may just call and ask as the ride is so long and with this drain tube, the less josstling around the better. or wonder whether to try and move up the new colorectal surgeon appt as in get put on their wait list. This one is the only one who seems to get the severe issues I am in.

The bills from all these hotel stays and social workers and night aides and day aides and ambulace rides is going to take me if the starvation does not. Am so terrified. Well better get to sleep as I have to call early in the a.m whether to skip the GI consult. It is not at the hospital that offered the TPN the end of Jan. It was just input on how to survive til surgery. I am so chase tailing and not knowing what to do.

Lucky, were you ever at home on TPN or did they take the port out?
