Recommendation for item similar to Eakin seals?

Hi all,

My insurance just changed and I rely on Eakin seals, but they're quit costly now. I was just at my doc and the ostomy nurse recommended something by Coloplast or Convatec that is similar but not as expensive.

Anybody else use something that works like an Eakin seal but is cheaper?

I hate the costs of these things!

coloplast has brava rings.. probably the closest thing to eakin seals
hollister has adapt rings... they are thinner than the regular eakin seals.

possibly call the manufacturers directly and get samples of both and see what might work for you.

i agree.. that just stinks that you have to switch something that has been working for you.

You can find cheaper supplies at companies that do not accept insurance. I use www.medicalmega.com for items not covered by my insurance. I usually buy enough to last a while since I have to pay shipping...but even paying $6.95 for that I save a bundle!

I know what you mean about the expense, it's horrible.

My doc actually wants to try for another reattachment. First did not go well and almost killed me, but he's confident this time would go better. While I haven't decided, and I'm a little apprehensive, thinking about not having to worry about ordering supplies and their cost is a good motivator!
