I had colorectal cancer about
6 years ago with complete removal of rectum and a colostomy. Although I am happy to be cancer free, I have had problems with a growing
parastomal hernia over the past 2 years. Initially my surgeon said she didn't want' to do anything since they can be difficult to fix. I moved to a new area and have seen a new oncologist and surgeon who say it has become bigger and should be repaired now. My surgeon says he can do it with laparoscopy surgery and mesh repair. I have read some concerning information about these types of repairs and often patients have to have the colostomy site changed to the other side. Any info/experience would be helpful.
Thank you
