Have you actually tried the Convatec moldable with an Eakin seal? I put my Eakin on my skin first snuggly against my stoma and then the moldable wafer on top. The Eakin fills any gaps and works very nicely-for me. I have heard it said that moldables were designed to be used without an Eakin, but I know several people who swear by the combo. Mine is also Convex, but recently I used up some old flat ones and they did almost just as well as the convex, much to my surprise.
As you know, Convatec will send you samples, so I would say if you haven't tried them, give them a whirl. I would ask for the smallest size closest size to your stoma. For example, my stoma is around 1 to 1 & 1/8 inch. I get the size that fits 7/8 to 1 & 1/4 inch stomas.
Even if a stoma is 1 & 1/4 inch, I think using the 7/8 to 1 & 1/4 inch wafer would be more productive than the next one up which starts with 1 & 1/4 inch. I think that would be just like a regular wafer with no material for hugging.
Did that make sense?
