Yea my hubby's hole took about
6 months to heal ... his doctor did a procedure on the hole though at one point. He went in for a pouch scope and the surgeon did a "scraping" of the hole. Basically he took some sort of tool and just scraped the wound and cleaned it out and tried to "stimulate" the area. He said that sometimes this help bring more blood flow to the area to encourage the hole to close faster.
Also, he said if the hole didn't heal about
3-4 months after he did that, then it means that the area where the hole is cannot get any blood flow. He said he had a few instances where a person's jpouch just wouldn't heal and they had to do another procedure where they had to turn the hole inside out and then manually seal it up.
Luckily, after we had this scraping thing done... he had another scope about
4 months later and it was all nice and healed up. :)
Maybe you could have them do this for you too? But I agree with the others, this can take a long time to heal. Hubby's doctor told him that even though he had been off steroids for awhile before his surgery it can still affect how your body heals depending on how much steroid use you had.
Also, with the abscesses, those things are brutal and can also take a long time to heal. I've heard of people being on antibiotics for a very long time. I had to give my hubby Invanz through his PICC line for weeks and weeks after I brought him home. He also had the drains and they actually had to go up inside him a few times and flush out the abscesses.
Chin up! :D
