One year ago today, I underwent life saving emergency surgery that was required due to a perforation from a colonoscopy. While the surgery was incredibly traumatic and scary, I am so proud to wish Lilly, my stoma, a happy first birthday. We have done so many things this past year, Germany, France, Punta Cana, zip lining, food festivals and the list goes on. While the future remains uncertain as to the outcome of my next surgery, I can honestly say I wouldn't have done things differently. I have enjoyed eating all kinds of foods that I wasn't able to enjoy since my diagnosis with Crohn's. In fact, we went to our cities Greek Fest on friday night for the first time in 7 years that we have lived here, something I always wanted to do but knew that I wouldn't enjoy it because of having to run to the bathroom constantly. Well Friday night, I ate more Greek food than I have in years and let me tell you, I will remember that night for the rest of my life. I kept thanking my husband for taking me!
Happy birthday Lilly, you amazing little stoma!!!
